Back in the Habit

I’m Ba-ack! My ridiculously-awesome-road-trip-of-a-lifetime is finally over. I’m feeling rejuvenated and overwhelmed with inspiration – ready to take on the need segment in my life. Although I lost track of blogging about many of the destination cities we visited (*sorry*), I plan to recap some of the best highlights in the coming months.

For now, I’m back in Phoenix, AZ for the holidays and drawing like a fiend.

I had the honor of participating in a Etsy Seller event last week at the lovely West Elm store in Scottsdale. This event was coordinated by West Elm and Etsy to feature local handmade sellers in their store for the holidays. The event brought lots of new customers to my store and I was able to sell some of my original drawings.

New originals are being listed in my shop so stop in and check it out for look at my freshest drawings.

Cheers!

Handmade for the Holidays!

Hello all! So far, I have absolutely loved reading posts everyday from this year’s Crafty Holiday Blog Hop. This event gives us a special way to help support the handmade arts, and give gift this year with true meaning and value. If you missed yesterday’s fabulous post at Bridget and Lucy . Check it out!

Today, I am going to be highlighting some gift ideas I found on Etsy. Let’s cut to the chase – here they are!

MEN: It can be tough to find gifts for men in the handmade category. I know that my boyfriend doesn’t put much stock into material things, and the few things he does pine over are usually expensive electronics. My solution – clothes. The guys I’ve known in the past have hated shopping for clothes so much that they will continue wearing old and beyond repair clothing for months or years to avoid the hassle. A simple clothing item like a graphic tee will be greatly appreciated in lieu of the dreaded trip to the mall. I could easily see my boyfriend in one of these smart tees.

  1. Respect Men’s Tee by Supastarr
  2. Ursa Major T-shirt by Black Bird Tees

Acquaintances/Colleagues: Were you tricked into a gift exchange at work? Or perhaps you are looking for that simple gift for your beloved hairdresser, or your daughter’s 4th grade teacher. Calendars make smart simple gifts that can vary greatly in price to suit your budget. I hate to sound cheesy but these gifts truly keep on giving all year long. Here are a few of my favorite mini calendars.

  1. Mini Magnetic Calendar by Against the Grain Graphic
  2. Little Mo and Friends Pocket Calendar by Little Mo and Friends
  3. Stitched Micro – Eco Calendar by Nature’s Cubbyhole
  4. Desk Calendar by Aliette

The Kids: Children are my absolute favorite to shop for! They get so excited over even the smallest things. I love the classic look of handmade toys and the one of a kind detail that goes into children’s handmade clothing. Here are some gift ideas I have been mulling over for my nieces and nephew.

  1. Organic Camera by Little Sapling Toys
  2. Tablecloth Play House by Cool Spaces For Kids
  3. Sock Monkey Hat by Madtown Topper
  4. Snow Day Dress by Broken Ghost Couture

Happy Shopping!

Weekend Update

Well, the weekend is coming to a close, and I am happy to be where I am!

First, I was featured in nice Etsy treasury today. It was called Etsy’s Freshmen [POUNCE!] and it was an honor to see one of my prints featured. Click the image to view the entire treasury.

Also, I sold my first print on Etsy! I will admit that the buyer is a friend of mine from across the country, but I am just as proud of my first dollar as ever! It marks the official start to a new and exciting part of my journey. I plan to reinvest every penny right now back into my  business. Having the means to special order some fun and interesting merchandise is a very rewarding feeling and I am excited at the possibilities of what other custom creations I could sell. (If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them!)

Finally, I finished a new painting last night that I am so jazzed about! My goal each week is to finish a new illustration, and so far, I have done a great job at keeping that goal. (*giving myself a pat on the back*). So all in all, this weekend brought a smile to my face. A big THANKS to everyone who is supporting my new journey, and I hope you enjoy seeing the positive results as much as I do!

Open For Business

Whew! After ordering a slick new printer, testing out multiple fine papers, and starting a new body of work – my shop is up and running! My self titled Etsy shop currently features four of my most recent prints for sale. Stop in and have a look!
